Elizabeth Banks
Director and Counsellor
Elizabeth believes that people are so much more than the challenges that bring them through the door.
With degrees in Psychological Science and Counselling, additional qualifications across a range of therapeutic approaches, and more than a decade of experience working with individuals, families and communities, Elizabeth brings both depth of knowledge and genuine human connection to her work.
Her approach is grounded in an understanding of lifespan development, brain-behaviour relationships, trauma, neurobiology and human connection. She has worked across clinical, educational, community and corporate settings, supporting people through complex challenges while helping them better understand themselves, build resilience and create meaningful change.
At the heart of Elizabeth's work is a simple belief: people need to feel safe, seen and accepted before meaningful change can happen.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms or diagnoses, Elizabeth is curious about the whole person, their experiences, relationships, environment, strengths and the things that have shaped how they move through the world.
This philosophy sits at the heart of The Village Health.
As Director, Elizabeth brings together evidence-based practice and a deeply relational approach to care, creating services that support not only individuals, but the families, schools and communities around them.
Alongside her clinical work, Elizabeth is an experienced keynote speaker and facilitator, presenting on mental health, trauma, wellbeing and human behaviour.
She has a particular ability to translate complex psychological concepts into conversations that feel relatable, practical and genuinely useful.
Whether she's sitting alongside someone in the counselling room, speaking to a room full of people or developing new ways to support the community, Elizabeth's approach remains the same:
Heart-led. Evidence-based. People first.
