Her Village

A six month journey home to yourself, for women rebuilding life after violence.

You left. You’re safe. But maybe you still don’t feel free.

You made one of the bravest decisions of your life.

You left family violence.

You did the practical things.

You found safety.

You began building a new life for yourself and the people you love.

But nobody really tells you about what comes next.

Because being safe and feeling safe can be two very different things.

The relationship has ended, but the patterns haven't.

  • The self-doubt.

  • The second-guessing.

  • The difficulty trusting yourself.

  • The way you relate to other people.

  • The feeling that somewhere along the way, you lost pieces of who you used to be.

  • And then there’s the loneliness.

People around you may love you deeply.

They might be incredibly proud of how far you've come.

But they haven't necessarily lived it.

They don't always understand why healing takes so long, why something seemingly small can bring everything rushing back, or why rebuilding a life after violence is so much more complicated than simply leaving.

Her Village was created for this chapter.

You don't have to rebuild alone.

Her Village is a six-month online group journey for women healing and rebuilding their lives after family violence.

It isn't about reliving every detail of what happened to you.

It isn't about performing strength.

And you don't need to arrive with everything figured out.

It's a space for the slower work that comes afterwards.

Reconnecting with yourself.

Rebuilding trust.

Developing self-compassion.

Understanding old patterns.

Finding connection.

And beginning to discover who you are when your life is no longer being shaped by someone else's control.

What Is Her Village?

For six months, we'll gather online every fortnight for a 90-minute facilitated group session.

Each chapter of Her Village has its own focus, gently exploring the areas that can support rebuilding after family violence, including trust, self-compassion and connection.

You'll also have access to a private online space containing video modules, resources and guided healing work to support you between sessions.

This is not a space where you'll be expected to retell your experience in detail.

You don't need to prove what happened.

You don't need to compare your experience with anyone else's.

And you certainly don't need to be the strong one in the room.

We begin on  the 10 March 2027

We gather fortnightly online for 90 minutes on a Wednesday at 10:00am AEST
You will have access to our online space for video modules, resources, and guided healing work from March 1 2027.

Your story doesn’t end with what happened to you.

This is your chapter if…

You are physically safe after experiencing family violence,

but something inside still feels unsettled.

You notice old patterns showing up in how you trust,

connect, make decisions or see yourself.

You second-guess yourself after years of having your reality,

choices or instincts questioned.

You feel lonely in your healing, even when you're surrounded by people who care.

You wonder where the woman you used to be went,

or perhaps you're beginning to wonder who you're becoming now.

You want to understand and interrupt patterns you don't want to carry into your future.

And you're ready for your life to become about more than simply getting through the day.

You're ready to begin coming home to yourself.

Meet you guide

I'm Elizabeth Banks, founder of The Village Health and creator of Her Village.

I bring both my clinical training and my own lived experience of recovery to this work.

I know what it takes to rebuild a life after violence, not just as a practitioner, but as someone who has walked that path myself.

I also know that leaving isn't always the end of the story.

There can be grief and self-doubt.

There can be loneliness.

There can be new challenges and, sometimes, new forms of abuse that interrupt the next chapter you're trying so hard to write.

I created Her Village because I believe women deserve support for what happens after they leave, too.

Not pressure to "move on."

Not another expectation to be strong.

A place to rebuild.

A place to connect.

A village... Her Village.

Your six chapters

Across our six months together, Her Village moves through six chapters.

Each month gently builds on the one before it.

We begin by coming back to you, your voice, your values and your sense of what feels true.

From there, we gently explore the patterns you’ve carried, practise meeting yourself with more compassion, find steadier ground and begin looking towards the life you want to build from here.

Chapter One: Reclaiming the Compass

After domestic violence it can be hard to know what you think, want or trust anymore.

Even more so if you are still a victim of post-separation abuse.

This is where we begin to hear your voice again.

Chapter Two: Tracing the Roots

Some of the patterns we carry were once ways of surviving. They may have helped you stay safe, keep the peace, or make sense of circumstances that felt impossible.

Together, we’ll trace where they may have begun so you can decide what you want to carry forward.

Chapter Three: Softening the Armour

We’ll explore the inner critic, shame and the expectations you hold for yourself, making space for something different: compassion.

Compassion for the choices you made. For the ways you survived. For the parts of yourself that are still healing.

Chapter Four: Finding Steady Ground

Rebuilding can mean learning that you’re allowed to have boundaries, needs and limits, and that you don't have to defend them.

In this chapter, we explore what it can look like to create boundaries from self-respect rather than anger or fear.

Chapter Five: Bending, Not Breaking

There will be days when you feel strong and clear, and others when something old catches you by surprise. This chapter honours the ebb and flow of recovery.

Sometimes healing looks like knowing how to bend, recover and meet yourself where you are.

Chapter Six: The Next Chapter

We’ll bring together the values, self-trust, compassion, boundaries and resilience you’ve been exploring and consider what they might look like in your everyday life.

Her Village was never meant to write your next chapter for you.

It was created to help you remember that the pen belongs in your hands.

Your next chapter is yours to write.
Looking at the Flowers
Why a village?

One-to-one therapy can be a beautiful way to write your next chapter, and for some women that's exactly the right fit.

But there's something that can happen when women who have walked similar paths come together.

You stop feeling like the only one.

You witness another woman's strength and begin to recognise your own.

You offer someone else deep compassion and slowly learn to offer that same compassion to yourself.

You believe in another woman before she can see what you see in her.

And sometimes, when your own belief is shaky, you get to borrow the belief others have in you.

Healing after family violence can feel incredibly lonely.

We don't have to do it alone.

By the end of Her Village, you're not simply reaching the end of a program.

You've had the opportunity to build connection with women who understand the complexity of this chapter because they're rebuilding too.

That's the village.

Whatever healing looks like from here, you don't need to rush it.

You don't need to have it all figured out.

And you don't need to pretend that being safe means everything suddenly feels okay.

Maybe this next chapter isn't about getting back to the woman you were before.

Maybe it's about slowly getting to know the woman you are now.

And perhaps you don't have to meet her alone.

Welcome to Her Village.
