Doug Moczynski

Doug is a youth-focused practitioner passionate about creating fun, safe, and useful spaces that support mental health, healing, and wellbeing. With more than 15 years’ experience working alongside young people in out-of-home care (OOHC), youth
services, and therapeutic outdoor settings, he brings a unique, relational approach to supporting those navigating complex trauma, adversity, and change.

Doug began his career as an outdoor guide, developing deep expertise in adventure-based facilitation and leadership across a range of activities. From hiking and paddling to ropes and risk management. In 2020, he founded Gippsland Adventure
Therapy, a service dedicated to helping young people and families connect, heal, and build resilience through nature-based therapeutic experiences. His approach blends the principles of trauma-informed practice, social work, and adventure
therapy to enhance engagement and promote positive outcomes.

Currently completing his Bachelor of Social Work, Doug is committed to integrating evidence-based practice with creative, experiential approaches. He specialises in building trust with young people who may feel disengaged or misunderstood,
designing sessions that are playful and practical while also deeply therapeutic.

Doug brings his energy, authenticity, and relational style, offering a unique approach to youth mental health and wellbeing. His work is grounded in the belief that healing is most powerful when it is collaborative, empowering, and built on genuine
connection, whether that’s in a therapy room, out on a trail, or around a campfire.
