A six month journey home to yourself, for women rebuilding life after violence.

You are a Woman who has already been so brave.

You have experienced family violence.

You left.

Or you're leaving.

You made the hardest decision of your life.

Now you and those you love are safe.

I see you, I know what it takes to leave, and I know that even when you've taken all the practical steps, things still feel unsettled.

  • You're safe now, but you don't quite feel like yourself yet.

  • You catch old patterns creeping back in, in how you trust, how you relate to others, how you see yourself.

  • You feel the loneliness of rebuilding, even when surrounded by people who care.

  • You wonder if the version of you before all this is still in there somewhere.

  • You want to break the patterns you carried in, for yourself and for anyone who comes after you.

  • You're tired of just getting through the day and you're ready to actually heal.

If any of this is landing for you, we see you. And we've built something for exactly this moment.

Her Village is a six month group program for women who have left a violent relationship and are ready for the deeper work of healing, rebuilding, and rediscovering who they are.

What Is Her Village?

Her Village is a six month program for women who have experienced domestic violence.

You'll meet fortnightly with other women who understand what you've been through, because they've lived it too.

These women will become your village.

Her Village is facilitated personally by Elizabeth Banks, a counsellor and trauma-informed practitioner with lived experience of family violence. A group of women on similar paths will meet each fortnight for six months. Each month has its own focus, allowing you to grow strong connections with the other women in the group as you recover and heal.

Throughout your journey you will:

  • Rebuild trust in yourself and in your ability to connect with others

  • Recognise the patterns you grew up with, and consciously choose something different going forward

  • Learn to navigate parenting and family relationships with confidence, if that's part of your life, including guidance for navigating family court

  • Rediscover who you are outside of the relationship that shaped so much of your life

  • Build real financial independence and the confidence to manage your own decisions

  • Understand what a healthy relationship looks like, and how to hold your own boundaries

  • Carry mindfulness with you as a steady, grounding thread through every session

Her Village may not be for you right now if:

You are still in active crisis or need safety planning first

You're not yet able to commit to regular, in-person group sessions
